Where to Request Fulton Records

The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office is the first contact for county jail custody and sheriff-maintained booking records. The sheriff’s public phone is (309) 547-2277. Written Freedom of Information Act requests may be sent by email to foia@fultonco.org, by fax to (309) 547-2355, by mail to the post office box below, or delivered in person. The county states that its FOIA officer responds within five business days, subject to lawful extensions and exemptions. No separate public records-counter hours were published in the reviewed sheriff material, so call before making a special trip.

Choose the contact by record type. A direct request to the proper custodian avoids asking one office to certify data controlled by another:

  • For a booking card, booking photograph, or sheriff arrest report, use the Fulton County records path and the sheriff’s written FOIA channels above.
  • For someone booked very recently, check Arrested Today. For several days or older ongoing custody, use Arrest Reports and the Current Inmates roster.
  • For a Canton, Farmington, or Lewistown police incident report, contact that city’s police department. City records are not automatically sheriff records.
  • For release or transfer alerts, use Illinois VINE. The sheriff roster shows booking fields, while VINE is the notification service.
  • For a hearing, filed charge, case number, or disposition, contact the Fulton County Circuit Clerk or search the Ninth Judicial Circuit’s Judici route.
  • For a person sentenced to state prison, use the Illinois Department of Corrections Individual in Custody Search rather than the county jail roster.
  • For federal prison or immigration custody, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator or the ICE detainee locator. Those systems do not serve as Fulton County booking feeds.

Give the agency enough detail to identify the correct record. Helpful facts include the full name, date of birth when known, event date, location, arresting agency, and report or case number. Ask for the exact item needed rather than a broad file search. A record may be redacted, withheld, or released in part when an exemption applies.
